$1.2 Million Sales Graduate TAPWRIT Wins the Pulpit Stakes

Tapwrit, a $1.2-million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select buy, keyed home a Todd Pletcher-trained exacta. Entered as main-track only, the Oct. 22 Gulfstream West grassy maiden winner stalked from a three-wide fourth in the early stages. Taking control on the turn for home, the gray splashed clear in the lane and held off a strong late run from stablemate Master Plan to score. Tapwrit, a debut fourth on the Saratoga lawn Aug. 28, is a son of GI Spinaway S. winner Appealing Zophie, who was purchased by My Meadowview for $1.1 million at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton November sale. She is also represented by a Candy Ride (Arg) yearling colt and a Speightstown weanling colt. Appealing Zophie was bred back to Tiznow. “I think everything is in play now,” said winning trainer Todd Pletcher, who saddled four stakes winners on Saturday’s Juvenile Showcase card of six $75,000 stakes at Gulfstream. “We’ll see how he comes out of it. He’s seems to be going the right way. We’ll target one of these stakes. I’m not sure which one yet.”
