Oaks Day Exacta for Denali Sales Graduates
Kentucky Oaks Day is the kick off to one of the biggest weekends in horse racing in the Bluegrass and Denali Sales graduates sure showed up on Friday!
Curalina, a filly by Curlin out of Whatdreamsrmadeof, got things kicked off in Race 2 at Churchill. She was a $125k yearling purchase at Keeneland in 2013. She made her debut last August in Saratoga and ran second to highly rated filly High Dollar Woman. She came back to break her maiden in March of this year at Gulfstream Park by a length. She was backed heavily by handicappers in a field of eight and won the race easily by an impressive 8 1/4 lengths.

Our second winner of the day came in the next race, when Mighty Souper (War Front/Mighty Frio) annexed a field of 12 in a very competitive race 4 on the same card. Owned by Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Stud, she was purchased at Keeneland September for $275k. Mighty Souper made her debut at Santa Anita on March 7th but couldn’t do better than 4th at 6 1/2f. Last time out they tried her again at Santa Anita going a mile and an eighth and she had a late bid but checked in at sixth. A month later on the Churchill dirt going a mile seemed to work the best for this filly, as the field came to the last furlong and she put in a winning bid to break her maiden by 1 1/2 lengths.
