Denali grad Partisan Politics pre-entered in Breeders’ Cup
The stakes-winning 2-year-old filly Partisan Politics was part of an overflow field of 18 pre-entered in this year’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), which will run Oct. 31 at Santa Anita Park.
Partisan Politics is a Denali Stud sales grad; she went through the ring at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling sale, where she brought a winning bid of $175,000 from William Lawrence and Klaravich Stables, her current owners.
Following a tough trip in her July 21 debut at Saratoga, where she was third in a tight three-way photo, trainer Chad Brown saddled Partisan Politics for an impressive 2 ¾-length win in the $100,000 P. G. Johnson S., also at Saratoga, on Aug. 27. Another tough trip followed in the Sept. 28 Miss Grillo S. (G3) at Belmont, where the filly got away slowly and came running fast late to be fourth.
With her breeding, Partisan Politics gives her connections plenty of hope in the Breeders’ Cup. Her sire More Than Ready is a noted prominent turf sire, while her dam Bluegrass Princess is a graded stakes winner on the grass.
Final entries for the Breeders’ Cup will be drawn on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
