Denali Sales Grads Off to a Big Start at The Spa

Monday, August 01, 2016

Denali Sales Grads made a big splash this past weekend in Saratoga, with two Graded Stakes wins added to the tally.

In front running fashion, Denali Sales Grad LAOBAN wired the field in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy S. on Saturday for a 27-1 upset over favored Mohaymen. The win was the son of Denali Sales Grad Uncle Mo’s first, though he also ran second in the G3 Gotham S. and 3rd in the G3 Sham S. earlier in the year. This was the $40K Keeneland November weanling’s best run to date; he was bred by longtime clients Respite Farm, who also bred his sire Uncle Mo. Connections said he will make his next start in the G1 Travers S., also at Saratoga.

Our second Sales Grad to earn a Graded Stakes win at the weekend was CURALINA in the Grade 3 Shuvee S. on Sunday. This $125K Keeneland September yearling shook clear of the field and won by a resounding 9 1/4 lengths. Interestingly, the second place finisher Carrumba is out of a half-sister to Denali resident mare REMEMBER, who will have a stunning Orb colt on offer for Keeneland September this fall.

Be sure to stop by and see us next week at Fasig Tipton Saratoga for the Select Sale in Barn 7A, as well as the New York Bred sale. We’ll sell you a Saturday afternoon winner!
