Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Denali Farm and Sales graduate Danon Legend lived up to his name on Sunday, with a dominating five-length victory in the $581,000 Capella S. (G3) at Nakayama Racecourse in Japan.

With the inaugural Graded win, Danon Legend became racing’s newest millionaire, as well as the 205th career stakes winner for the Denali Stud program.

In the 16-horse field of the Capella, Danon Legend shot right to the lead, then exploded from the far turn to the wire, streaking home in a very swift 1:09.50. The dark bay son of Champion and Breeders’ Cup winner Macho Uno out of a daughter of Champion and Breeders’ Cup winner Caressing, was foaled and raised at Denali for breeder Richard Santulli’s Colts Neck Stable. Denali sold Danon Legend at the 2011 Keeneland September Sale for $90,000. He was then pinhooked for $385,000 at the 2012 Barretts March Sale.

Racing in Japan for Danox Inc., Danon Legend has amassed a record of 18-6-3-1 and earnings of $1,284,769 in three seasons of racing. He is the sixth Graded stakes winner of 2014 sold as a yearling by Denali Stud.
