Keeneland January 2014 sale highlights
Denali Stud wrapped up the Jan. 6-9 Keeneland 2014 January Horses of All Ages Sale as one of the top 10 consignors during the 4-day auction, with gross sales of $1,405,000.
Topping the list of 48 horses sold was hip No. 319, Phonybooksnrecords. The 4-year-old Tapit is out of the Grade 2 placed mare True Addiction and hails from the same family as Grade 1 winner Cherokee Colony and Grade 3 winner Risen Colony. The Kentucky-bred Phonybooksnrecords sold for $190,000 to Thomas Clark Bloodstock, agent.
Fonepferesh (IRE), a 3-year-old filly cataloged as hip No. 943, went for $170,000 to Wellington Partners. The bay filly has plenty of international appeal; she is a daughter Holy Roman Emperor, a European Group 1 winner and Highweight colt in France and sire of Grade 1 winners in two hemispheres. Her dam Vee Gita is a half-sister to 2011 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Vale of York (IRE).
