Summer In Saratoga – Homecoming at Fasig-Tipton November
Denali Stud raised and grazed mare, Summer In Saratoga, captured the Gr. III Dowager at Keeneland on Sunday and with that, cements a special moment not only for her connections, but for the farm as well.
Smooth Sailing
The race shaped up beautiful for the regally-bred daughter of Hard Spun. Saving ground throughout most of the race, she shifted effortlessly into the three path before splitting the leaders at the three sixteenths pole, and taking command. Luck Money tried to rally late but Summer In Saratoga comfortably held off the charge.
Afterward, in an interview with Alicia Hughes post race, trainer Joe Sharp reminisced about what the filly has meant for him:
She’s been a filly that has been good to us. She’s the definition of a team effort. Highlander Training Center did a great job with her over the winter. It’s paid off…That was her final start for us, she’s in the sale, so we’re definitely going to miss her. She’s been a special filly to us.
Fasig-Tipton November Sale
The Gr. III Dowager is slated to be Summer In Saratoga’s final start for her current connections. She is entered to be sold in November in Fasig-Tipton’s “Night of the Stars” noted for having some of the most accomplished and most expensive broodmares/broodmare prospects go through its ring.
Out of the Grade 1-winning mare, Love Theway Youare, Summer In Saratoga was foaled, raised, and then sold by Denali Stud at the 2017 Keeneland September Sale for $170,000 and then again two years later in the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age sale for $165,000.
Denali Stud considers it an honor to be representing the connections in the sale of a talented racemare who got her start on our pastures.
Summer In Saratoga was bred by our long-time clients, My Meadowview. She will go through the ring as a racing or broodmare prospect.
